How to Create a digital Vision Board

“Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.” – John Dewey

WHAT IS A VISION BOARD?

A vision board is not a new phenomenon. Most people typically make a physical vision board. Vision boards are a collection of images displaying your wildest dreams, goals, and aspirations in life.

How to create a digital vision board

Today I am going to show you how to make a digital vision board using Canva, PowerPoint, and  even Google Slides.

Why create a digital vision board?

In today’s society, everything is electronic, so whether it’s through your cellphone, tablet, or desktop we are spending a lot of time in the digital world.

Therefore, why not create a digital representation of  your hopes and dreams and the things you want to manifest in your life?!

“Create the highest, grandest vision possible for your life, because you become what you believe.”

— Oprah Winfrey

Getting started

When starting your digital board you want to ask yourself some questions:

  • What personal goals do you want to achieve?
  • What professional goals do you want to achieve?
  • What financial goals do you want to achieve?
  • What does life look like when you achieve your goals?
  • What images, words, or phrases represent what I want to achieve?
  • What will I need to change/improve in order to achieve my goal?
  • What would you do if you weren’t fearful?

Using timeframes may help guide you when creating your digital vision board. Think 6  months from now, a year, 5 years, 10 years.

Get creative.

Your vision board represents YOU and your unique talents and gifts. No one is you and that alone is special. You want to find images and words/phrases/mantras that represent the life you want to achieve. Since this is going to be a vision board done online, digitally here are some free places to find beautiful images to add to your board.

These websites are a great way to get started with your digital vision board. Download the images that speak and inspire you.

Start simple, and grow from there. Start with the 6 main things: spiritual, physical, mental, financial, family, & professional. Dream big.

How to make a digital vision board with canva:

If you are not familiar with Canva, it’s a free website that allows you to create thousands of different designs. It’s easiest to use Canva on a desktop when doing your vision board.

Step 1: Create your layout

In Canva click Create a design here you can put in the size that you want. if you care going to print it out I suggest 10 x 8, or 16 x 9 if you are going to use it as a background for your computer. The great thing about Canva is that you can resize your project with out losing any work.

Step 2: Set up how you want to place your images

Once you have decided on the size. It’s time to create the layout. One way is to freely place pictures and size them or create a grid. I suggest a grid, because it is more organized. To do that, on the left hand side there is an option for Elements and choose the option of grids.

You can create your grid any way you want or you can use the one I created HERE.

Step 3: Add your images and elements

Start adding images to your grid by uploading images you already have, or using images Canva has to offer. You do this by selecting photos on the left and typing in a word. For example: Self care. Images will populate based on the word self care you can choose any photo that speaks to you

Step 4: Create your digital vision board

Are you seeing the fruits of your labor yet? Now that you have added the images that you like, it’s time to add mantras, words, and phrases to help keep you motivated. You can layer your elements and text by clicking position. Don’t be afraid to be as creative as you want to be. *Note to layer you photos lock the image you don’t want to move.

Step 5: DOWNLOAD

The last step is to download your digital vision board. You have a few options of how to do that. Click Download, the most common file type to download is as a JPG or PDF. Remember to name your file before you download. Canva keeps a copy of all your designs on the home screen. You can come back and make changes or add to it whenever you want.

Post your vision board where you can see it DAILY!
